Controller

The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations of the bank, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with applicable banking regulations and accounting standards. This role supports the Chief Financial Officer.

 

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee the bank’s general ledger and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory reporting requirements, and internal accounting policies
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and accruals

Regulatory & Audit Support

  • Assist with Call Reports and other regulatory filings, as assigned
  • Support regulatory exams by preparing requested documentation and explanations

Operational Oversight

  • Supervise daily accounting functions including A/P, A/R, fixed assets, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain internal controls and segregation of duties
  • Assist with accounting-related system updates and process improvements

Budgeting & Analysis

  • Assist the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Provide financial analysis and reporting to management as requested
  • Support asset/liability, profitability, and expense management reporting

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution
  • Community banking experience strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and bank accounting practices
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting and examination processes
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a regulated environment
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

 

Certifications (Preferred)

  • CPA preferred but not required
